Winter Temperatures After the Pinatubo Eruption

Lower tropospheric temperature anomalies (^oC) for the Northern Hemisphere winter (December 1991 to February 1992) increased after the 1991 Mount Pinatubo eruption. This pattern is typical after large tropical eruptions, with warming over North America, Europe, and Siberia and cooling over Alaska, Greenland, the Middle East, and China.
